St Minver St Minver

Welcome to St Minver!

St Minver is the parish church for a large and enormously popular holiday area, including all the Camel Estuary from Polzeath to Daymer Bay and on to Rock.  It is a fine and spacious church, very well cared for, where the character of the Sunday Parish Communion, from the first moment when you walk down the lane from the Fourways pub and hear the bells cheerily ringing, is friendly and welcoming.  The beautiful churches of St Enodoc and St Michael's, Porthilly, are part of this parish.

We would love to welcome you to join us!  We need you... in the congregation, or to expand our choir, to help us build on the children’s work we have been developing, to join our bible study and/or pastoral care group, simply to worship and pray... we need hundreds of people to be the vibrant church we want to be, so please come!

In January 2007 the following Mission Statement was put forward by the church people:

"The PCC aims to provide opportunities for prayer, worship, Bible study and spiritual nurture in the churches in co-operation with the priest-in-charge and in support of the Diocese.  It aims to build on its outreach in the community, to foster worship leaders and pastoral visitors, to continue publication of the newsletter and organisation of community events, to encourage weddings and baptisms in the churches and to cherish its historic church buildings for the future."

Good progress has been made with many of these ideals and at one level the church is warm (great new heating system!) and well cared for; at another level we are working at creating `loving community’, exploring ways of engaging with families, and we want `to grow the Church’!"

Freestyles services at St Minver Church

Freestyle services are our monthly services of the word at which everyone is welcome. Our theme for 2012 is 'The Apprentice' - one who learns at the Master's feet and dwells in his house.

Forthcoming services:

22nd January - Vocations - What’s your calling?  What’s right for you to do with your life?

26th February First Sunday of Lent - The Cost - What is the cost of Christian discipleship? What is the place of the cross and what are the costs of offering one's life to serve God and the world?

18th March Mothering Sunday - At the Master's Feet - in the old days the apprentice would live in the Mater's house and be part of his family; are we not similarly a part of Christ's family?

22nd April - The Joy - of Easter and of being an apprentice.

Evensong at St Minver

Due to the temporary closure of St Michael's chapel, from the 29th January Evensong will be held at St Minver church each Sunday at 6pm for a period of six weeks.
